For decades the only choice for illuminating signage letters was neon. While neon is fabulous in many ways, it has one drawback. It uses high voltage current. Not only is high voltage dangerous to work with, it consumes a lot of energy.
For the past decade or more, LED’s have been gaining in popularity for a variety of uses including signage letters. There were some initial issues to using LED’s in signage letters but those have all been resolved.
Without detailing all the benefits of LED’s, the point here is that they consume very little energy. The type of LED’s used in signage letters are usually 12 volt systems with very low power consumption. Another benefit is that when it comes to sign repair, LED repairs are quicker, easier and less expensive than neon repair.
If you are planning on buying any signs for your business in the future, consider using LED’s in your signage letters instead of neon. LED’s have truly come of age.
